'Squinter' & 'Line Eyes': Why You Can't Stop Staring at Your Pregnancy Test
If you feel like you're hallucinating a line, you're not alone. Here's how to check more objectively.
What 'line eyes' really is
When you want an answer badly, your brain hunts for patterns—especially on faint, low-contrast strips. This is why two people can look at the same photo and disagree.
Make your result more objective
Use a timer, take a photo at the correct read time, and compare the photo under consistent settings. Consider asking a trusted friend to look without telling them what you hope it is.
Use enhancement without tricking yourself
Choose one enhancement method and stick to it (same filter each time). If you jump between extreme edits, you can 'create' lines that aren't real.
If you're testing early
If your period isn't due yet, faint or unclear results are more common. Retesting later often provides a clearer answer.
How the app fits
Position your app as a calming tool: consistent enhancement + history tracking so users stop re-checking old tests and can compare over time.
